中山路曾為廣州古城的東西向軸線，古城唯一貫穿東西方向的道路。中山六路騎樓街建于20世紀30年代，為典型騎樓街，有仿哥特式、中國傳統式、南洋式以及古羅馬券廊式四種形式。

   規劃保護和展示歷史價值，延續歷史記憶，倡導減量規劃，疏解人口和交通，增加公共空間和文化旅游設施，以文化功能激活街區活力。

   本次規劃作為廣州市首批控規層面的騎樓類保護規劃，填補了該類規劃在法定層面的空白。

As the east-west axis and the only east-west road running through the ancient Guangzhou city, Zhong Shan Lu was of great importance in the city’s history and has been remaining prosperous from Tang Dynasty until now. The typical Qilou along Zhong Shan Liu Lu was constructed in 1930s and mainly involved four styles, i.e. pseudo-gothic, Chinese traditional, Southeast Asia and ancient Rome arcade. 

The Plan aims to celebrate, conserve and display the historical value and evoke the historical memory with decremental planning approaches; moreover, decentralize population and traffic flows, increase public spaces and cultural and tourist facilities ，revitalize the block with the cultural functions.
