北京路是廣州古代中軸線，擁有悠久的商業傳統，保存許多連續的騎樓街。

  規劃通過保護現存騎樓、引導開發建設、完善騎樓體系、優化空間結構、疏解舊區人口、提升商業能量等策略，對景觀、功能、土地、交通等提出控制和指引，促進騎樓風貌保護與開發建設的和諧共贏。

  本規劃的及時出臺，控制保護了若干面臨拆除重新開發的騎樓街和傳統風貌街區。

As the central axis of ancient Guangzhou city, Bei Jing Lu has longstanding commercial tradition with the continuing Qilou buildings.  

The Plan proposes some strategic measures (such as conserving existing Qilou, guiding new development, perfecting the Qilou system, refining spatial structure, relocating the population of old downtown and enhancing the commercial energy) to control and guide the landscape, functions, land and traffic facilities and contribute to the harmony and win-win result of Qilou conservation and development. 

The timely launch of the Plan helps conserve some Qilou and traditional featured blocks that were at the risk of being removed and redeveloped.
